Rationalizing things
After just a few minutes of observing his restless dog, Jeff realized he could not hold on to Max for much longer. There was somewhere his dog wanted to go, and it wasn’t by Jeff’s side. And then Jeff made a foolish decision. To make sense of his dog’s behavior, Jeff rationalized things, thinking that Max probably was restless because he wanted to run around and not be chained up.
