To his aid
The fireman was strong, but the weight of the colleague was too much for him to bare. The rope was starting to slip through his fingers and he felt a painful burn in the palms of his hands. Luckily for him, the heroic action was noticed by Annie and multiple bystanders. People rushed to his aid and grabbed the slipping rope, supporting the hurting man.
