But that day was unlike any other. When the school bus arrived, Lily kissed Benshi goodbye, promising to see him later. As the bus rumbled down the street, Benshi watched from the front porch until it disappeared from view. Hours later, when the bus returned, Lily was nowhere to be found. The bus driver insisted that she had been picked up and dropped off at school as usual.
