Adam was staying in a hotel in the city not far from here. “Was this unfinished business a reconnection with his long-lost love Carol?” George wandered. He decided to talk to Carol first. She needed to hear it from him. He drove back to Carol’s place and knocked on her door. Carol answered, her face pale. George walked through the door and gestured for Carol to sit. “Jake confirmed it,” he said.
