Chasing shadows
They still hadn’t reached the end of the trail. It seemed as if they were chasing shadows, the footprints luring them deeper and deeper into the forest. The trail was so distinct, it almost felt as if it was intentionally laid for them to follow. Were they walking toward a trap? The light was waning, and the air was becoming colder. Their sense of apprehension heightened.
