A parting promise
With a deep sigh, Simon restarted the boat’s engine, the low hum echoing ominously in the impending night. “Alright, everyone,” he said, forcing a smile. “That’s enough excitement for one day, don’t you think?” There were weak chuckles, but their laughter did not quite reach their eyes. The boat began to move again, the murky waters parting before it, their destination now the safety of the dock.
