Harpy Eagles were indigenous to the rainforests of Central and South America, making their presence here an unfathomable anomaly. The more Alex read about them, the more implausible their encounter seemed. The Harpy Eagle was one of the largest and most powerful birds of prey, noted for its sharp talons and regal plumage. Its intelligence, too, was a subject of fascination.
