Lindsey watched the thief and felt real anger coming up. She tried to control her breathing, knowing she had to stay calm to catch him. There was no sign of Flint or Carl, so she had to act alone. Slowly, Lindsey moved closer, trying to be as quiet as possible. But by accident, she stepped on a loose floorboard. It creaked loudly under her weight. She held her breath, hoping the thief hadn’t heard it.
