Mixed emotions
They could not be properly judged because of the missing evidence. So this discovery that James had brought them would help a lot. The gratitude in the old man’s eyes was evident, but it did little to alleviate James’ mixed feelings. He was glad to have done the right thing, glad that justice would be served. But there was also a deep sense of loss.
