Grandparents
“The older couple in the waiting room,” Dr. Harrison continued, “are the grandparents of the triplets you’ve been caring for. They want to know what happened to their daughter’s babies.” Elizabeth was surprised to hear this. She thought they looked familiar. Was this how she knew them? Did Elizabeth see them in the hospital the day she gave birth? She had been raising their grandchildren without knowing? Elizabeth felt a mix of guilt and anger.
