Behind the door
The door opened without any creak. It was well-oiled for being this old. Behind it, the two individuals saw a spiral staircase heading downwards into a dark space. It looked scary, but that wasn’t going to deter Diane or the pastor. Diane followed the man through the doorway and down the set of stairs.
