Did the kids do this? She thought. Why would they do something like this? “What h-have you done?” Elizabeth asked, softly sobbing. She felt betrayed by their actions. She never expected the kids to do anything like this. They were always playing, and she thought they liked the way they acted when she ‘caught’ them in her backyard.
