Forcing his hand
The letter stated that the dealer did not rob the bank himself. But the criminals who did commit the crime used his car dealership to get getaway cars for the heist. They threatened the lives of his family, so the old man was forced to cooperate and became a forced accomplice. The owner hoped that it would end when he facilitated the criminals with the cars, but it did not.
