Bad dream
Richard wasn’t thinking straight at this point and acted purely on instinct. That’s why he rushed to the closing train door when the train whistle blew and bursted inside. He was now on a moving train with his lying wife. It almost seemed like a bad dream. But one he could not wake up from.
