Being tricked by kind words
Larry quickly discovered that the buyer was selling all the property to housing developers for profit. Piece by piece, the surrounding area around his house was auctioned off to the highest bidder. Larry tried to stop the process, but the contract he signed was watertight, and Larry was powerless to stop any of it. “I should have read the fine prints better,” he later stated. But the man’s friendly demeanor tricked the aging Larry.
