Breaking the surface
A tree stood at the uppermost left part of the cove. Its shade and branches camouflaged Mason well, so he broke the surface and watched. His heartbeat drowned out the ambient sounds. He tried to slow it down by breathing deeply while waiting for the right opportunity. Then, that moment arrived.
