The neighbor didn’t have an explanation for what happened with the mysterious figure behind the window. But when David mentioned the cat, the next-door lady knew exactly what to say. She explained that the cat belonged to the previous owner, who now lived in a nursing home two towns over. The cat might have returned to its old house, which could have caused the strange sounds and sights they noticed.
