The police officer listened calmly to Donna explain her situation. She told him about her husband, who suddenly showed up, the car that had followed her, and the stone through the window with the threat attached. Her voice trembled as she remembered everything that happened to her in such a short time. But when she finally finished, the police officer sighed and told her he couldn’t help her. “Why not?” Donna demanded to know.
