Becoming depressed
In the weeks following the failed wedding, Beth became very depressed. Tom was all she knew, and now it was gone. She couldn’t be among people, but she was also unable to be alone. That’s why her sister invited Beth to stay in her guest bedroom. But there, the door remained mainly locked as well.
