Sudden Diversion
“Take the next left,” Derek said sharply, pointing to a small side street. Maddy swerved, the tires screeching as they turned onto the narrow road. The following car hesitated before making the same turn. “They’re still on us,” Joshua said, his voice rising with panic. “We need to lose them.” Derek scanned the area ahead. “There’s a parking garage up ahead. Pull in and turn off the lights,” he suggested. Maddy hesitated but followed his lead.
