My mother-in-law screamed in agony once. And then a second sound was heard, the sound I was waiting for. It was a noise that everyone present recognized instantly. It was loud and unapologetic, and everyone bore witness. The guest’s face turned confused and horrified instantly. “Did she really just do that?”
