Something unexpected
Rose’s mouth quivered, and then she started laughing hysterically. It confused me, but when she finally regained composure, she hoisted her pants and stepped out of the stool. My mother-in-law suddenly hugged me without using her hands, of course. My harsh retaliation weirdly enough caused a form of respect to form within Rose.
