With perfect darkness all around it, Carl’s other senses heightened, making his hearing more sharply tuned. And with it, Carl suddenly heard rumblings in the depths of the ship. At first, he thought it was just the expansion of the frozen metal. But after a while, he could swear that it was footsteps he heard.
