Several crew members decided they’d had enough. One of them, a younger guy named Mark, muttered, “I’m not staying down here another second,” and turned back. The others nodded in agreement, fear written across their faces. The group’s footsteps echoed as they scrambled away. Carl did not try to stop them, as he understood their worry. He just watched as their bobbing flashlights faded into the distance.
