Suddenly, they heard the sound again—a soft, almost melodic whine further down the tunnel. This time, it seemed almost like a calling, a lure to draw them in. Carl hesitated for the first time, glancing at the crew. “Are we doing this?” he asked his teammates. But they all nodded in agreement. They were with many, and they only heard one sound. “Let’s go!”
