Emotional reunion
Some miners still had family alive, and those reunions were emotional and heartwarming. For the first time in 30 years, the lost miners were united with loved ones. Even Carl, who never cried, wiped away a tear when he witnessed their embrace. “We were just there to reinstate a quarry. And now we saved eight lives. This is crazy. You can’t make this stuff up,” he said.
