Self-sufficient
Many of the original adults had passed away over the years, the pilot explained, but their children had grown up and had families of their own. The community they had built was small but self-sufficient. The pilot’s voice was filled with pride as he spoke of how they had survived, but there was a sadness too, knowing that the outside world had forgotten them.
