Back at the garage
When they arrived at Tom’s garage, the older mechanic was sitting out front, wiping his hands on a rag. His eyes widened in disbelief when he saw Charles step out of the car. “Charles?” Tom said, his voice thick with emotion. “Is that really you?” Charles nodded, his own eyes misting over. “It’s me, Tom. I’m sorry I disappeared. I should have told you… I should have stayed.”
