Clara’s hands trembled slightly, and she clutched the briefcase. She could still hear the chatter of people around her, but their voices seemed distant now, like background noise. Her focus was entirely on the object she had found. Clara put one step in front of the other, creating distance from the crowd while trying to appear as casual as possible.
