They were moving through the ship, calling for any sign of life. For half an hour, Carla could do nothing but stand there, gripping the railing, her heart pounding with every step she heard on the line. And then there was a breakthrough. She could see them now—small figures appearing on the deck of the large ship, waving, calling down to the coastguard that was still on board with Carla.
