Feeling relief
Slowly, they began to descend the ladder, one by one. The crew members climbed down toward the coastguard boat where Carla was waiting. She held her breath, watching as the first of the crew members reached the bottom, their faces pale but relieved, a faint smile breaking through as he stepped onto the boat. More figures followed, their faces tired but thankful. Carla felt a surge of relief.
