Using his senses
Jack discovered a slightly open service entrance, inviting him to slip inside. As he stepped through, he found himself in a dimly lit hallway, where the light from outside hardly reached. The air was filled with the smell of cleaning products, but other than that, it appeared completely abandoned. Jack strained his ears, alert for any faint sound that might signal the presence of someone nearby.
