Above the fireplace
Finally, I entered the main living room and froze. Above the grand fireplace hung an enormous portrait. On it was a family dressed in fine clothes. And right in the middle stood my father, much younger and somber, dressed in a way that didn’t match the man I knew. “What is going on, Dad?” I whispered, looking up at the painting in disbelief.
