That’s when we all noticed the following: We saw that many of the furniture pieces in here matched those inside the storage unit. One chair was missing at the dining table—its twin was on my truck’s bed. The outline of a cabinet on the wall also matched the form of one inside the unit. Dad hadn’t just left things behind; he’d set out breadcrumbs for me to find this house.
