Lucas listened closely to the man’s explanation but frowned as the information sunk in. “But lions are not really part of the natural landscape around here,” Lucas said, stating the obvious. The patrol officer sighed with a sad undertone. He agreed with Lucas’s keen observation and regrettably concluded that there was only one other reason why a non-Montana-based wild animal could appear in this area.
