Unfolding the note
As Kate smoothed out the wrinkles, she realized it was a note written in a hurried but neat hand. It began with a simple “Thank you,” followed by words that made her heart swell. The note was from the family’s father. He thanked her for her kindness, saying she didn’t have to help them but chose to anyway. He hoped her generosity wouldn’t get her into trouble.
