Kate felt her hesitation melt as she took a seat among these strangers. Almost immediately, a plate of food was placed in front of her. The meal looked simple, thrown together without any fancy presentation. It wasn’t anything like the polished plates she’d served at the restaurant. Still, she was intrigued enough to lift her fork and take a bite.
