Kate looked up from her serving tray and saw a small family entering: a man, a woman, and a young boy, all dressed in worn clothes. They seemed out of place in the upscale restaurant, and the glances from other diners made that clear. The restaurant was filled with new guests who didn’t seem to possess common courtesy. So, as the family stepped forward, mocking whispers were heard all around.
