A new chamber
Brody paused, running his fingers over the grooves. “A machine didn’t make these,” he said. “Someone did this by hand.” Mike’s flashlight danced over the markings, revealing what looked like a crude depiction of figures carrying heavy loads. “Miners?” Mike guessed. The men followed the carvings and sounds until the tunnel finally widened again. The tunnel opened into a small chamber where tools lay scattered about—rusted pickaxes, ancient-looking hammers, and a wheelbarrow with a broken wheel.
