An old man’s plan
Because of their close inspection, Brody and Mike had not noticed that the mumbling sounds had stopped. They were all just sounds created by one old man with a lantern, designed to put fear in the hearts of these intruders. When Brody finally noticed the audible change, he looked around nervously. And when his gaze veered to the right, he saw the lantern again. And this time, it was close, way too close.
