With the smaller lifeboat prepared, Abara and his crew climbed in, turned on the small motor, and sailed toward the feature. The massive grey form remained still, watching them. The larger navy ship stayed behind, its crew keeping a cautious distance. Abara had ordered them to monitor the situation and provide backup if needed.
