Bumps in the night
From the safety of his bed, John could hear faint thumps and occasional rustling throughout the entire night. He pulled the covers tighter around himself, telling his thoughts to quiet down, but his mind kept returning to those eyes. When John finally drifted off, it was only out of sheer exhaustion.
