Something went wrong
As the officers approached the manager’s property, one of the outer perimeter patrols noticed movement through the home’s curtains. The lead detective’s voice crackled through the radio: “Hold positions; do not alert him.” But the manager had already seen something that tipped him off. A shadow, a glint of a badge, or perhaps sheer paranoia had prompted him to peer outside at the wrong moment. “Suspect is aware,” came the warning over the radio.
