Keeping track above ground
Above ground, Cody kept his ears sharp, listening for his dad’s voice through the Walkie-Talkie. “I’m near the fence line now,” Ben’s voice crackled, guiding Cody’s movements. The young boy darted from storm drain to storm drain, pressing his ear to the ground to pick up any faint sound. “I hear you, Dad!” Cody called back, his voice strong despite his racing heart. The two worked together seamlessly, each relying on the other’s presence.
