The two men retreated carefully back toward the tree line where their car was parked. Once there, Robert pulled out his phone and dialed the police. “Call a department from another county,” he said to Ethan. “We can’t risk involving anyone Jason might know.” Ethan nodded, appreciating Robert’s foresight. He explained the situation to the dispatcher, keeping his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. And this time, police were eager to help out.
