Together, Ethan and Julia returned to the car, where Robert was waiting. Julia hugged him tightly, her gratitude spilling out in a rush of words. “Thank you,” she said. “For helping Ethan, for helping me. I don’t know what we would’ve done without you.” Robert smiled, his humility evident. “I’m just glad you’re safe,” he said. “That’s all that matters.” The three of them climbed into the car, ready to leave the nightmare behind.
