Mark pulled out his pocket knife and, with precise care, sliced open a small section of the nest’s thick outer shell. The blade crunched softly as it parted the dense, fibrous material. As the layers peeled back, something unexpected was revealed inside. There were tiny, curled bits of what looked like fur tucked within the fibers—soft and light brown. John frowned, leaning in closer. His confusion only grew. “Fur?” he asked aloud, voice laced with disbelief.
