Hornets didn’t collect fur—at least, not as far as John knew. The idea felt absurd. He glanced at Mark, hoping for an explanation that might ease the tension in his chest. Mark studied the fibers more closely, turning a clump in his fingers before giving a small, uncertain nod. “No,” he confirmed, “hornets don’t collect fur.” He brushed a hand across the nest’s surface. “And these fibers… they look almost like plant roots. Very strange, indeed.”
