John clutched the phone tighter, his breath uneven. “Frightening?” he repeated, his voice laced with tension. A cold sweat began to form on the back of his neck. He wasn’t sure what he had expected, but Mark’s tone made his stomach churn. “Just tell me already,” he snapped, unable to bear the suspense. He heard Mark inhale deeply on the other end, then finally speak. “John, that thing you found? It wasn’t built by hornets.”
