Still No Buzz

Hours passed. John kept checking the nest from different angles—still nothing. No movement, no buzzing. Not even a single insect flew in or out. The strange lump just sat there, silent and unmoving. “Maybe they’re just sleeping,” he muttered, though even he didn’t believe that. Hornets were daytime creatures. By now, they should’ve made themselves known. Something about this wasn’t adding up.
